New Berkshire based support group for carers of people with Frontotemporal dementia (FTD)

We are incredibly proud to announce that Younger People with Dementia will be hosting a Berkshire based Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) support group for carers in May.

We aim to bring together carers from Berkshire and surrounding counties but also have opportunity to meet with clinical specialists and YPWD Charity staff.

“We’d welcome carers to come along and to share with us how a dedicated FTD support group could help them,” explains Dr Jacqui Hussey, Clinical Director at Younger People with Dementia.

Frontotemporal Dementia is a form of dementia which predominantly affects cognitive functions such as behaviour and personality or language abilities, with relatively few memory problems at the outset. Such changes can pose particular and unique challenges for carers.  The Rare Dementia Support group in London has shown that people can benefit from meeting with others in a similar new situation and this is why we have teamed up with them to provide a local group in Berkshire.

If you would like to attend this first meeting of the support group, it will be hosted by YPWD in Indigo House, on May 8 2019 from 3pm to 5pm.  It promises to offer carers a great opportunity to meet new people and to share experiences, thoughts and ideas.
