Our first reviewed book featuring at the Henley Literary Festival come along and meet the author

In May we posted our thoughts on Facebook about ‘Married to Alzheimer’s: A Life Less Ordinary’ by Steph Booth.  This was part of our highlighting the dedicated dementia library service, based at the YPWD office, where our friends and their families can borrow books from our library.

Steph Booth was married to the actor Tony Booth and in the book gives a sometimes humorous, often moving, but very honest account of their life together. The book is punctuated by references to Cherie and Tony Blair who were Tony’s daughter and son in law.

The story is very much the author’s personal account of living with a partner who having never been a conformist, reacted in his unique way to his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s. The author, who describes herself as stubborn and quick to react, provides a really helpful insight into how she learnt to cope and adapt.

The book ends with a useful chapter “Things I wished I had known”.

As part of the hugely popular Henley Literary Festival Steph Booth will be making a public appearance to talk about her book and how she came to write this very personal memoir.  We have a limited number of free tickets for Steph’s talk, being held at the Town Hall in Henley, from 12pm on 30 September 2019.

If you’d like to claim free tickets to Steph’s talk, please email contact@ypwd.info with the number of tickets you’d like, we will allocate tickets on a first come, first served basis.

Congratulations in advance if you secure a free ticket, if not, you can visit the Henley Literature Festival website to purchase a ticket.

It promises to be a very full and interesting day at the Festival with Teresa May, Jack Straw and Terry Waite all speaking about their books, along with many others and the River Readings taking place on the Thames.  Each event requires a ticket.

We look forward to seeing you there.
