Stronger Together going from strength to strength

Hello to all those reading this follow up of what the Stronger Together Group has been up to over the winter.

We visited West Green House (A National Trust property) on a day when the weather couldn’t decide what it wanted to do. We had refreshments and a wander around the gardens.

Our next outing was to Oxford, some of us used the park and ride and others arrived by train, very convenient. We were taken into Trinity College Oxford for a bit of history, shown part of the surrounding area and its architecture and finished with a lunch in the New Bodleian Library.

December was a coach trip to Waddesdon Manor, forgot to arrange for a clear blue sky! Unfortunately the weather was unfavourable.  Lunch was lingered over; a wander through the Manor enjoying the Christmas Decorations followed.  Time to brave the outside market stalls, coats done up to the chin, gloves and scarves on and umbrellas at the ready.  Ended up in the wigwam where we could get a hot drink and mince pie.  The outside light show was next.  Only one of us managed to see most of it as a big puddle had to be paddled through!  The rest of the group scurried to the coach for a sit down and warmth. Such a shame on the weather front but with great company!

Our monthly Saturday morning walks and refreshments were at Dinton Pastures Country Park, we like wandering here; Englefield, enjoying the small café; the Herb Farm, where a couple of new members joined us and Greys Court (NT) to see the snowdrops.

February came oh so quickly. A wonderful evening meal, attended by 16 members, at our favourite discounted venue, The Black Boy in Shinfield.

Lots of chatter is always going on, and here are a couple of quotes to encourage you to join us to give it a go:

“I have found the group to be very helpful and enjoyable. It is good to meet up and chat to people who are in a similar position to yourself.”

“After telling ourselves that if it was maudlin we needn’t go again we gritted our teeth and attended the Stronger Together group. We found it uplifting and carried on going.”

If you feel you may like to join us let Pam or Elisabeth know by email: strongertogether@ypwd.info  Don’t be afraid, we’re a friendly crowd!
