YPWD joins national fundraising challenge MyRideLondon

The Covid-19 Pandemic has had a significant impact on charities throughout the UK, with estimates of a £10bn loss in income. YPWD is no exception in this situation as we have seen our charitable events and challenges cancelled from March through to September leaving us with many thousands of pounds to fundraise from elsewhere.

YPWD are turning to friends, colleagues and the public to get on their bikes – or scooters, skateboards, trikes, tandems, penny farthings, roller skates, unicycles – to help our charity to maintain its unique and life-changing services for people living with Young Onset Dementia and their carers.

During the pandemic the talented YPWD team has been providing support throughout to a group of vulnerable people who would otherwise have been unable to access relevant support elsewhere. We want to continue to do this.

The eighth edition of Prudential RideLondon was due to take place on 15 and 16 August 2020, and while the festival can’t go ahead as planned, the organisers want to keep the wheels moving and celebrate the event weekend by encouraging people to get on their bikes – or any other non-motorised wheeled transport! – and help save the UK’s charities in the process.

My Prudential RideLondon is a chance for YPWD's followers to take part in the world’s greatest free festival of cycling. Whatever your age or ability, you can join in – wherever you live in the UK and with whoever you like – family, friends or by yourself.

Riders can choose from one of four challenges suitable for all ages and abilities, which can be done on a route of our supporter's choice, wherever they are in the world, on 15 or 16 August:

  • My Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100: 100-mile ride
  • My Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46: 46-mile ride
  • My Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 19: 19-mile ride
  • My Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle: an event that allows participants the chance to set their own challenge (minimum distance 1km) on the wheels of their choice: bikes, scooters, skateboards, trikes, balance bikes, roller skates, wheelchairs or anything that is self-propelled (e-bikes are fine too)
